JOY=Jesus, Others, You

Throughout our lives we are all constantly looking for things that make us happy and trying to fill that hole. But I believe that there is only one way that we can find true joy! And that only comes through prioritizing the right things in life. Today I would like to share some ideas about how to prioritize and what has brought me the most joy!

One of the most simple but impactful ways we can discover joy in this life is by following this acronym! The first priority should be "J" for Jesus Christ! I believe that Jesus Christ is my Savior. He is truly our brother and is a real person! I consistently work to keep Him at the center of my life and my thoughts. In my life, as I have placed Christ as number one, I have been able to face and overcome some of my most difficult trials. Through my reliance on Him I have felt the peace of the Holy Ghost in my heart and seen life through an eternal perspective:). He has been my center as I have read the scriptures, prayed, fasted, attended the church and temple. If you will try to put your faith in Christ, I know you will also begin to feel the joy that can fill one's heart!

The next thing to prioritize in life is "O" for others! I am sure all of us have felt the peace and joy that fills your soul as you are serving others. It can be as simple as a kind note placed on a strangers car or as big as buying soup for a sick friend. I firmly believe that God is so aware of each of our needs! He knows who is struggling.

If we will pray to be guided to those people and have faith that God will follow through, we can be tools in the hands of God! We should also be pro-active in finding ways to serve! You could check out www.justserve.org in your area and find something that you can do! If we serve with the right attitude, joy will be our constant companion especially if we are going through our own struggles!

After seeking Jesus and others, you can then worry about "Y" for yourself! Our level of health is made up of our spiritual, emotional, mental, physical, and social needs. If you are unhappy it would be helpful to stop at times and consider where you are in each of these areas! When we are at our peak of health, we then have more strength to give to others and our Savior! Though we find the most joy serving Christ and others, we should not forget to take care of ourselves:)

I have a firm belief that if we apply these steps in the right order, we will find a great amount of peace and real happiness in our lives! And JOY will last!

Challenge: Make three goals- how you will put Christ first, Others second, and yourself third in your life this week!
