It is so easy to forget what a blessing it is to be healthy! Sometimes it takes throwing up, coughing til your throat is numb, or getting injured to realize how good you had it before. This week was a rough one balancing 5+ hrs of homework each day while battling the flu. Yeah, you can say it has been a handful! I have realized how much I take for granted the health that I have.
There is a girl that I became friends with when I was a Freshman in High School and she was a Senior. We went to the same church and we hit it off well after we met. Only weeks after meeting her, she then contracted an illness that wouldn't allow her to hold down any food. After years of testing they finally realized that her intestines had become paralyzed.
As I have been able to serve a mission and enjoy college, this wonderful friend of mine has been fighting to stay alive in the face of such hardship for nearly 10 years! I admire and look up to warriors like her that can fight the good fight and see the good in life. She still loves God despite the enormous trials she has endured.
What I learned from her is that health is truly a gift to cherish. I have also learned that we can find happiness in life and faith in God even as we endure difficult physical trials! It is through this faith in Christ that, like those touched by the Savior, we can be made whole. Though sometimes it doesn't make sense why the "pain won't go away" or we feel as if we are being punished by God, these times we are physically hurting are opportunities for us to turn our hearts to Christ and feel of His love more than ever.

Challenge: This week serve someone that is dealing with a physical ailment or sickness. Also, thank the Lord in your prayers each day for your good health :)
