Finding Hope in Chaos

Weddings postponed, graduations cancelled, jobs lost, economy haulted, future uncertain and fear universal. In only 2 weeks many of us have been through more than enough change and “chaos”than ever expected. As the world seems to fall apart around us, where is the hope? Where is joy? Where is God? I desire to share some thoughts on how our hearts can be comforted during these hard times.

When life is “normal,” work and life responsibilities can keep us away from home and our families. God expects us in this time of “quarantine” to reacquaint ourselves with those closest to us. We have an opportunity here to strengthen those relationships. My own family at home in Cali has made the effort to do scripture study every day together, go on walks, have game nights and they went out to fly kites yesterday:) It has been beautiful

to see on social media the joys people have

found with their families at this time.

During times of uncertainty, many of us are looking for something certain and steady. When Peter walked on water in the middle of a great storm, he saw the waves crashing and wind pounding and he began to sink. It wasn’t until he refocused his eyes on Christ that he regained his balance and found resilience to keep pushing through the storm. If you feel as if life seems to be pounding against you, look to the most certain thing there is in this life, our Savior Christ! God wants us to turn to Him and lean on Him! In doing so, we will come through this stronger and full of hope.

Another thing we can do to discover the light in a dark night is by looking for it. The news and social media is flooded with both messages of fear and despair. It is easy to feel discouraged about ones future and the future of the world. But light is there! There are still good things happening in this world if we look for them. Many people are recovering from Covid-19, we are banding together as an American people, Medical professionals are working hard, and God is in charge. If we look for ways to share light and hope, we can lift those “hands that hang down” around us and we can feel the love of God in our heart.

My hope is that as we each prepare to hear from our living Prophet this next week, fast with millions on Sunday for relief, and look to Christ in this storm, we WILL find hope and joy! God is at the helm and it is a choice to have faith. May we open our eyes to serve our families, turn to Christ, see the good and Light the world!

Invitation- Light the world! Share on Facebook/social media how you are finding hope in these hard times❤️
